Mysterious kittens
Mysterious kittens
Hello, I am fostering 3 kittens, that were found abandoned, without mother in the middle of nowhere and were really sick. They are pretty healthy now. There are two girls and one red boy that will stay with me forever, he was also in the worst state. It took us more than two weeks to actually bring him to the state of playing and acting like a cat. I went through many sleepless nights because I was worried that he wouldn't make it. Anyway, one of the kittens obviously has really long hair, and that's why she has found a new home almost immediately but I really do think that her siblings may end up longhaired too, especially the red one even though that because of sickness he is partly bald now. They are about 7 weeks old now and I know it can be this kittens fluffiness, but I do see some long hair signs. It is not that I care about what kind of hair will my kitten have, I love him and that's why he is staying with me, but this was many times a topic of discussion and I just really want to ask others, particularly the ones that are experienced. I remember my now two years old and shorthaired cat didn't have this much fluffiness as a kitten. What do you think?

Re: Mysterious kittens
I would say longish hair - perhaps more Maine Coon than Persian style though. Looks like you have done an excellent job raising them!
Re: Mysterious kittens
Thank you! I tried my best and I am so happy to see them healthy and running around. I also think he looks like he is going to have semi long fur but kittens can change so much over time. It is funny how they are siblings (probably, because we can't be sure) but turned out totally different... well they are simmilar in some other ways
. Little miss piggy (because she looks like guinea pig from the back side) has really long hair, I have never seen a kitten with fur this long and for me she is a little bit like a British longhair, Zygi (my boy) is probably main cooninsh (haha does it sound right? English is not my first language so I am not sure
...), and Zenia (tabby) looks like she has the shortest hair but I wouldn't be suprised if she turned out longhaired too, also in my opinion her fur is the prettiest and she changed the most over time. Her fur is getting more silvery (I can see more white), and she also has those red spots <3 , she is super fluffy too!

Re: Mysterious kittens
Kittens in a litter may have several different fathers, so there is scope for quite a lot of genetic variability. I immediately thought guinea pig when I saw Miss Piggy's photo!

Re: Mysterious kittens
Did someone mention Maine Coons? Just to show how fur length can change, here is my (sadly now dead) Badger as an 11 week old kitten and at 9 months:
Re: Mysterious kittens
wow! he was stunning! I wonder if Zygi will turn out like that. Today I had to clean Zygi up a little bit, he was smelly because of all the medicine he had to take. He looks even more fluffy now
! He learned how to climb my bed
and sleeps with me so it is a good thing that he is clean now
. Here are some more pictures. Doesn't Zenia's fur look just amazing?

Re: Mysterious kittens
Didn't paid enough attention first time... have to admit that Zenia's fur has a really special pattern and colour palette. Amazing.
Re: Mysterious kittens
hahaha Zygi lost his fur around his nose (that's why it is so pink), legs, belly and butt
. I wonder when his fur will grow back. I sent his siblings to new homes, they both have very good, loving families (also I will be able to get their pictures!) but I miss them so much already, maybe I'm not suitable for a temporary home, I get too attached.
