Good cat vet South Wales

I'm looking for a very good cat vet in the South Wales (NP23) area. We have 7 cats and use a vet in Newport but I would like to find a very cat savvy vet as we have found that we never see the same vet twice in the practice we use and often feel dismissed.

Can anyone recommend someone please?

there's a site called findavet - https://findavet.rcvs.org.uk/find-a-vet/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

if you want to see the same vet most of the time, you will need to consult with the reception staff to find out what surgeries she/he regularly does

I must say if I lived in Newport and had transport I would be quite keen to try http://www.cardiffcatclinic.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the reply Kay. We are very used to going to the vets and do ask to see the same vet twice, trouble is, where we are using, the vet is often only temporary, it isn't about not asking to see the same vet, it is about them not being there.

The Newport you found is miles from us - Isle of Wight. We are South Wales.

Still looking for personal recommendations please.

I amended my post when I realised, but not quick enough!

have you checked out http://www.cardiffcatclinic.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?

I live in West Wales, and have to go 13 miles to find a good vet with first class facilities

Thanks again Kay. Yes I saw Cardiff Cat Clinic. I have no problem travelling for a good vet. We travel hour and a half each way to our rabbit savvy vet in Gloucester. Fortunately most of our rabbits are OK travelling, only two get a bit stressy.

The Cardiff Cat Clinic would be about an hour or so from us, we are up the valley from Newport.

A FB friend suggested a vet in Pontllanfraith.

I want someone good and as close as possible as three out of our seven cats are poor travellers. One little boy cat Finnbarr actually froths at the mouth and gets very distressed. He has only ever been for neutering / chipping and yearly vaccinations. We don't have any immediate need but three of our cats are older adults now and I want someone we can trust who is good.

I live in Pembrokeshire and we are lucky enough to have one vet at our practice who specialises in cats. We only see another vet in emergencies!

Out of interest Kay, where do you go?

I go here Val http://www.carmarthenvets.co.uk/node/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It has level 3 facilities, and has just started their own ambulance which provides transport for people like me who don't have cars, so I think I'm lucky really, given how rural these parts are, to have such a good place within reach

I use Fentons in Haverfordwest. Lisa specialises in cats, but it's always useful to know of another good vet. Many around here are primarily large animal first, then dogs then everything else.

Fentons also has an exotics vet who deals with our chickens - we caused a bit of a stir when we took Boris our cockeral in once!
