Cat flap "Cat Mate Elite" problems

Hi
Does anyone else have the Cat Mate Elite? I am struggling with the timer on it. I set it up all correctly with the customer service lady on the phone but sometimes I find that it still doesn't open (from the inside) when it's supposed to. But if I leave it a few minutes and try again then it's ok.
Only problem is the cat doesn't understand that. So now he's tried it a few times without it opening he's just given up on it.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Or does anyone else know another cat flap with a timer?
