The pictures of people in public places with cats on leads makes me want to slap them!

my own experience of cat ownership - if that is the right word - agrees mostly with this article, especially the bit about cats being most affectionate when they come to you

There are exceptions, of course - every cat is different, but on the whole I agree with most of it too. It's that very spirit of independence that I like about cats. :)

They haven't told Denver about the "affection" part - when he gets on my lap he really snuggles up high for a cuddle and he really loves a tummy rub when he wants it!! But I agree with most of the rest.
