New pub where I live - named after owner's cat (I assume)

Post by MarkB »

It only occurred to me when Igot back, that the picture of Sam could be Domino. I will have to find out.

Not a very clear pic, it is a new 'Micropub' called 'The Handsome Sam'

We have a pub near us called Black Cat Cove (named after a bend in the river) I wish THEY sold Real Ale (sigh) :lol:

That's an idea though. Let us know how you go on and good luck tomorrow

Looks like a nice little pub! :)

It would be weird if Domino did turn out to be 'Sam'!

It can't be Dom - Apparently the owner had Sam for 20 years until his partner became sick and 'he had to go' - doesn't sound much like a beloved cat to me! http://www.kentonline.co.uk/whitstable/ ... e-a-23713/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It looks tiny. I don't think I will be visiting any time soon - even if it is 2 minutes walk :)

This link says Sam died 4 years ago. http://www.canterburytimes.co.uk/Raise- ... story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PS - It wasn't a former antique shop as it says in the article. They sold junk, 'shabby chic', and cheap repro. :)

I wonder what really did happen to 'Handsome Sam'. :(

Probably one of those 'we buy junk, we sell antiques' places! ;)

Bet you are relieved it is not Domino!

That sounds just like the Black Cat - full of anything with a black cat on it!

Funny thing is I have not been in the place for years - until last night. Dave's son Jon and a work mate are over here on a couple of jobs this week - Belfast, Mon, Derry Tues, Sion Mills today! He 'popped' over to see us last night (80 mile round trip) and we met them there before taking them for their tea.

Oh don't you just hate that! In a previous life we restored old furniture. It's funny what people consider 'antique'. :roll: The only antiques around here these days are the 3 of us and pussy Willow. :lol:

Yep, we're fast becoming 'antique' too! :D

Actually, I used to love rummaging around shops like that but there are very few left these days.
