Hey everyone, I'm new

Post by Sage »

I looked around, sorry if I missed an introduce yourself-thread, mods.

Hi y'all!

I'm in my 30's and live in Europe. I'm active at a no kill shelter, often with the scared ones. I have a shelter-cat, she's just managed to break into the bag of new food and snack, the little thief! She's a darling, about 5 years old and spoiled rotten.

I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Hello Sage, and welcome. :D

I'm, erm ...... older, and live just outside London. I have three cats of my own - Grumpy Nellie,Merrick and Daz, and two permanent foster cats - Pugwash is elderly and has health problems and Basil is also older and came as a stray with a badly broken leg and now has arthiritis issues.

I started taking on temporary foster cats last year, so now I also usually have a couple of temporary foster cats in my spare room and in an outdoor pen. At the moment I have Jess in the spare room, who was almost feral and I've been trying to socialise her over the past few months, and Woody in the outdoor pen who was a stray tom cat trapped a couple of weeks ago. He's very friendly and just need neutering and some good food. And a forever home, of course!

Your girl sounds lovely - a pic would be great when you get the chance. We all love looking at cat pics! :D

Hello Sage, and welcome to CC.

Like Helen, I'm 'older'. I live in the 'Wild' West of Fermanagh. All of my cats are strays or foundlings. My 2 black cats, Willow and Bobby, were born 10 years apart and are no relation to each other. Both were found on the road as tiny kittens. Tom, Purdy and Gracie were strays who wandered into our lives.

I have made good friends here and have had wonderfull support and advice with kitty problems.

What is you cat's name? As Helen says, a piccy would be nice.

Hi there - I'm fairly new myself. I've been owned by countless cats, from strays and ferals to the Siamese I used to breed (only not for profit - I never did meet a breeder who made any money; we just loved the breed lol.)

At present my two older cats are Emily and Mouse, ex-ferals, and Molly, whose previous owners asked me to take her as she was causing problems. I don't blame them - she still causes problems but she's very lovable, the little horror!

I say 'at present' because this is an awful area for cats - about every week I see a new cat on the street; they almost all look scrawny and I know some are un-neutered. I'm glad I've secured my garden as at least one neighbour is hostile and will take it out on the cats instead of the neglectful owners. I can foresee a stray/kitten problem looming. Well, there is room for ONE stray or cat in distress here; I lost my old tomcat, Finn, 18 months ago and it still feels very strange without him but these days I get the sense of someone arriving to fill the vacancy.

We also live with 15 snakessssssssssssss......NOT enormous ones who could eat a cat though!

Good on yer for working with abused cats - there are so many and it's heartbreaking. I would never breed cats again.

Hope you enjoy this forum, ciao and miaow for now :)
