Micro chip cat flaps and loc8tors

Post by lilynmitz »

Hi all. Thinking of getting a microchip cat flap, set into single glazing on the french windows (which I think they can do now). I would welcome any feedback from fellow Catchatters.

Also locators on collars - any good? Cost? Worth the money? It would be fitted to a safety release collar, so would i just be losing expensive bits of kit round the neighbourhood?

I know Ria uses Loc8or.

When we finally get a new back door, we are going to go for Sureflap. The main reason being, that unless they have changed, Petporte needs a mains socket, but Sureflap is battery operated.

Can't comment on the cat flap but yes to the Loc8tor! It's found Noodle shut in the neighbours garage twice now when she's snuck in, I can also track her down when I want her to come in for the night. It's not infallible but has given me peace of mind and 9 times out of 10 I've tracked her down. Just remember to check the batteries in both parts regularly.

Loc8tor is good. I sellotape to collars so they don't dangle. I use Loc8tor Plus, which is a bit more expensive, but has a wider range.
