Re: Short term foster
I picked her up just before 4pm. She was still a bit wobbly and confused. I did my duty and kept her company for a nap. She was a lot more with it. She managed to jump down from the bed for a bit of food and then back up again - it is a high bed - so I knew she would be OK.
She is such an affectionate little thing. I am working on OH
Great that she doesn't have a lampshade

Well done to her. They are remarkably resilliant.

Mark could you make other half his most favourite meal, ( as i know you are a foodie buff, ) and tell him Ingrid did most of the preparing, surely that would work :0) if there is one thing my other half cannot resist its food!

Re: Short term foster
I'm glad yesterday went well, and hope she's feeling steadier this morning.
She looks an absolute sweetheart, I don't know how anyone could resist her!
OH and I were really, really tempted by a cat that had been in the bigger cattery for months early last year. Jessica was an older cat, huge, mainly white and really sweet and laid back. We nicknamed her 'Mrs Daz', but at the time didn't really have a space and felt it would be too much to take on, and it was around the time we were moving. Then we lost Peaches and old Minnie ......... but by that time she had at last found a home. I know she went to a lovely lady who will dote on her, but we're both still haunted by the memory of 'Mrs Daz' and really wish we'd taken her on at the time .........

Re: Short term foster
She's a beauty Helen. I know what you mean. You may have seen my posts before about a 'nearly cat', called beauty. She was taken in pregnant by CP. She had the kittens, who were eventually rehomed, but she was still looking. I saw her a few times as I took her for vet visits and to be spayed etc. She was still waiting when there was a homing show. At the time we were having problems with Kylie and Willow fighting and decided that as much as we wanted her, it wouldn't be fair on her or the others. Beauty was homed in the end. A few weeks later I heard that the first time she was let out, she was hit by a car and died
On a lighter note, We have discussed adopting Ingrid. Dennis' main worry is Kylie (as is mine) as I'm sure Dom would be quite accepting. I spoke to Nicola this morning. She said she couldn't think of a better ending for Ingrid if it would work. She also said that if we fostered her for another few weeks while we tested the water, it would do her a favour as she is trying to bring a timid cat around at the moment. She said if it didn't work, as long as she has some notice, she would take Ingrid back.
So.... watch this space
PS - As Dennis was wary of going up to meet her, I bought her downstairs last night when Dom was outside and Kylie was asleep - She performed well by purring loudly and smooching Dennis

Re: Short term foster
So Dennis saw her under the bed on day one and for about 2 minutes last night. We got back from lunch and he decided to get properly acquainted. These are the photos I was sent 10 minutes later (armed with Dreamies )
We just need Kylie's permission now.

Really hoping Kylie will allow it. She isn't herself and we are trying to get to the cause of her chronic diarrhea at the moment.
Anyway, Dennis is besotted with Ingrid and is up in her 'bedsit' at the moment

Re: Short term foster
No new photos of Ingrid, but I found the photo of Sunshine that I mentioned. Here she is with Sally's existing cat, Yindee, within days of her arriving.
I am doing intros with Ingrid tomorrow. I know they won't go this well!

Re: Short term foster
Ingrid is fine - I had a nap with her this afternoon. I have discovered that she likes burrowing under bedcovers for a nap.
I just hope Kylie's health isn't going to make her too grumpy. She has chronic diarrhea/soft poos, that are getting worse. We did bloods and sent a poo sample off to the lab today.
Depending on the intros going OK (and we will persevere) I am going to book Ingrid in for her vaccs and chip.

Re: Short term foster
Intros went OK (not wonderfully) with Dom yesterday.
This afternoon I bit the bullet and tried introducing her to Kylie. It was going well until Ingrid decided to swear at Kylie. Kylie Bristled and swore back. Dom was in the garden and must have heard the commotion. He bashed through the flap (that he only learned to use a week ago!) and joined in. Ingrid ran under the wood burner and wouldn't come out. Kylie's tail was like a bog brush. After a while Kylie and Dom went outside. I eventually had to drag Ingrid out from under the burner (luckily it wasn't hot!) and put her back in her safe room with her new Yeowww! sardine. She forgot about the upset straight away.
Although not wonderful, there is hope!

After Kylie going for her 3 times in the last week, Ingrid decided to come down to the lower ground floor tonight. She is in Kylie's dog bed in the window, Kylie is next to me on the foot stool and well aware of the situation. Fingers crossed.

Oooooh paws crossed indeed! Good girl Kylie.
I have such a soft spot for Ingrid as she really reminds me of our first cat, Giddy, who we had for nearly 19 years. She's well into middle age here and pretty 'cuddly', but she did look a lot like Ingrid when she was younger.

I can picture the potential tension!
It's a good sign that there's no physical confrontation though!
