He was very pleased to see me, and even happier to be home! As soon as I let him out of the crate, he jumped up the ramp and stuck his head through the catflap into his little house as if to check his bed was still there, then came over for a fuss. As it's such a cold wet evening I've put a heat pad in his bed (as well as the heater he has in there), so he should be fine. :)

Awww Helen!!! That's wonderful news. How lovely that he checked to make sure his very own bed was still there. Then came for a fuss to say thanks. What a soft hearted little boy he is. He knows he's loved and being looked after, something he's never had before. What a heart warming story :D . Give him lots of gentle fusses from me Xx

Great news Helen!

Mr G wasn't quite as appreciative when I got him home after his op!

He skulked away into the garage and ignored me for at least 6 hours!

It sounds like you have been forgiven and he realises that you are looking out for him <3 x

That's great to hear! At least he'll never have to go through that again. Incredible how he has bounced back despite all previous stress/debility/recent complications. Shows you've given him the will to live. After only three weeks, is it?

I bet he was glad to wake up in his own bed this morning :D

Thanks guys. :)

He's so much brighter and happier today, I think the poor boy's been feeling ill and run down for some time and now the infections are clearing up you can really see the difference in him. OH has been round there feeding him bits of chicken this morning, and he now seems to have decided that OH is 'friend' not 'foe' and is happy to go up to him for a fuss.

He's such a nice boy, he's the first ex-stray I've had that doesn't grab when you're hand-feeding him - he takes it very gently and politely. Even Daz was very grabby at first, though he's now learnt some manners, and we don't dare feed Pugwash by hand, all food has to go in his bowl. Not only does Puggy nearly take your hand off, but he then starts to bite any hand that goes near him just in case there's food in it, and it's a real 'snap' like a steel trap - unbelievably fast and hard!

We now just need to concentrate on Greebo's coat. He still has lots of clumps on his back end and undercarriage and I was hoping they'd take a few off whilst he was in surgery, but apparently they spent so long digging out the roots of his poor old broken teeth that they didn't want to keep him under for any longer than they absolutely had to. So .... it's back to the comb and blunt-ended scissors, a bit at a time.

Great update, I bet he's feeling so much better now. I know Noodley and Tig bounced back really quickly after their extractions, I guess there's nothing worse than toothache.

Although he did have a couple of extractions, most of his molars were not too bad .... as I know to my cost as they bit into my finger when I was trying to get his antibiotic 'down the hatch'! All my own fault, as I'd tried to hide his pill in his food as I got away with that last night, but this time I watched him pushing it round the plate until I decided he wasn't going to fall for it and grabbed him. It was pretty stupid to grab him mid-dinner and stick my finger in his mouth when he was still in full chewing mode - I think I probably deserve the sore and throbbing index finger I'm now nursing!

Sadly, most of the time spent on his teeth was on digging out the roots of his canines, all of which were snapped off and a couple of the roots were cracked. Which was why the vet thought he'd been kicked in the face. :(

However, as has been said, the worst is over now and he's on the mend. I don't think he even realised he'd bitten me, and he's such a nice boy that I didn't have the heart to tell him. ;)
