Lost one of 2 siblings - should we get a new kitten?

Last year me and my partner rescued 2 gorgeous kittens - a boy and a girl called Sully (male) and Boo (female). 2 weeks ago we were absolutely heartbroken when we came home to find that Boo had been killed by a car outside our home
. She was so affectionate and loving and our home feels so different without her. Sully seems to be coping okay with being on his own but has the occasional spell where he runs around crazily and seems to be looking for her. We are starting to think it might be a good idea to get another kitten as Sully is still only 9 months old and we worry he may soon get used to being the only cat around.
Does anyone have any advice? I have read that it would be best to introduce a young kitten rather than an older cat, possibly female so that he feels less threatened? Others I have spoken to think we should leave it with just him but I'm not sure what to do and whether to act quickly so that he still remembers the times when he would have another cat to play with. He and Boo were very close so it seems a shame for him to be alone
Thanks everyone
