Kittens in da house!

I made the mistake of responding to an 'urgent' home needed post on here from someone near me who needed rescue spacee for a stray cat and her four kittens. The rescue I volunteer for is already stuffed to the gills with kittens ....... so they are currently in my bathroom until a 'proper' space becomes available.

Sigh ..... the kittens are 3 weeks old, and we had two days of serenity as they were as yet unable to get out of the basket, but they've now sussed it and are on the (slightly wobbly) rampage. I've just been woken up by an almighty crash as all the (thankfully plastic) shampoo bottles and general 'stuff' came off the little low shelf by the bath ......... which is why I'm up at this ungodly hour!

But they are incredibly cute. I will get some pics. :)

Aww! Lol!

I too have had kittens in da bathroom!

These were 6/7 weeks, my lovely Tess's little D'Urbervilles (before she became mine) including a ginger girl who was obviously one of my old chap Finn's. (Before he moved in with me and was neutered.) She earned the name of Ffyona; for an unsocialised feral she was incredibly cheeky and confident, and if the bathroom door was left open even with a barrier across, Ffyona would go for a walk ...

I look forward to pics! :D

OOOOH Babieeees! As if you haven't enough to do. Good on yah girl.

I don't know how the parents of twins/triplets etc manage - a house full of toddlers. Still kittens grow up faster, and are more cute (oops did I say that out loud?)

Sister in Law had triplets via IVF, then found out she was pregnant without help the following year !

One thing to remember with little kits, always put the toilet seat down !!! :D

Bet the swear box will be soon full at your house! :D

Kittens are FAR cuter than those ugly bald puppies humans have lol!

Thank God for bathrooms eh? Not much ey can destroy in there, and easy to clean up any messes! But yes.... The toilet seat danger is ever present. Mind you, my hubby is now very well trained!

Awww well done Helen!

Out of interest, it was my gang falling down the loo that eventually taught hubby to close the toilet lid!! That was 9 years ago

Look forward to seeing photos :D

Does your's do that as well?

Mine has rebuilt countless classic cars and is, at present, building a Japanese Tea House. But he just can't seem to get the hang of the loo seat and that strange lever contraption on the cistern??! He blames it on Purdy (she sometimes uses the loo)

Here you go, a couple of days ago at three weeks old and just before they found their feet. Mum and kittens have settled well and are very friendly.

Thanks for the loo seat reminder - I do need to properly kitten-proof the bathroom this weekend now they're out and about. And they really are - I had to brush my teeth this morning with a kitten climbing up each leg!

Ouch!

So sweet. Mum looks like Blossom, one of the Car Park Cats.

Aww, cuties! :D

Ohh I remember it well! The shuffling about flatfooted just in case some bright spark runs in front of you, the obsessional need to check when reversing, just in case some bright spark etc...The slow tread while weighted down with a kitten or two hanging happily on the jeans...human cat gym. Yeah I soon learned about the bog seat in my Siamese days...

Emily's kittens were the last lot I had and I had to laugh when the CP asked me, 'does the mother let you touch them?' Em dumped them on me and the dog every evening and got some 'Em' time while the kitties rampaged and gathered under poor Lizzie's hairy belly in the hope of milk (I have a pic of her looking very surprised) swarmed over me and generally caused havoc, bless them. I have another pic of Emily, very thin and pale from her life on the street and the birth of 5 kittens as ginger as herself, being kissed by the smallest kitten, Michael, who I think would have died if she hadn't brought them across to me; he was the runt and very frail, while in the background an upturned tail and cheeky bottom is all you can see of his sister, Red-Haired Mary, as she rummages in a bookcase behind...it just happened to be the crime section

Happy days - exhausting, but very rewarding - enjoy! :D

Oh my :)

I was in PAH today and a rescue had a fund raising event there, had cuddles with a 12 week old black and white cutie, had to have a stern talk to myself!

Aww so cute. I would love to foster but I ended up keeping two of them the first and only time i've done it. Found a home for one of their litter mates but it was sooo hard to let her go. My girls are one now. Had them since they were about 8 weeks old.

Aww Nic those are darlings!

They're just like my Mouse (silly nickname she never grew out of.) She's just got half a white moustache but otherwise same black tuxedo type of cat, silky and gorgeous, got to love them :D

Oh Nic I can see why you would find it hard to let them go, they are gorgeous!

Oh they are gorgeous!

I've developed a slow bow-legged walk to accommodate a kitten hanging off each leg whilst abluting! I have also now taken to wearing thigh-length leather boots in the bathroom. :D

I thought they might enjoy some fresh air, so I've put them in a crate in the garden for an hour or two whilst I clean/muck out/decontaminate the bathroom. I'll try to get some better pics.

Blimey - I had no idea just how much work kittens were. At one point all had slightly runny tummies and hadn't quite sussed the litter tray. Bless the little soul who pooped every time in front of the bathroom door, so you splatted it with the door when you went in ....... Some days it was like a poo storm in there!

I must admit I wouldn't do it again, or not unless they were in spare room of their own. Having to deal with four determined escapologists in the middle of the night when you got up for a pee was a bit much. We were starting to eye up chamber pots! :D

Still, they now have a proper pen at the rescue, so we did our job in keeping them going until a space could be found. And they really were very cute and did give us a lot of laughs along the way. :)

Apparently they've all been little angels and used the litter tray without fail in the pen!
