Now the evening's are light I often leave one of my cats outside for the day, however I am always reluctant to leave him if the weather doesn't look overly promising, so sometimes he is left in when it's raining and then typically it brightens up and I end up feeling guilty that he's left in! And vice versa.

I normally leave him a cat carrier with a blanket inside and then plastic sacks over the top to stop rain getting inside. However it looks unsightly and doesn't really do a great job.

I have seen some specialist cat shelters, and wondered if anyone uses such a thing?

I have left out a Mr Snugs kennel for years now, with a lining during the winter - they are not cheap but I can vouch for them being weatherproof and seemingly indestructible

It's not as sturdy or snug as the Mr Snugs but it's very cute and is fine for a temporary/day shelter. I nailed the flap on mine permanently open, so it's now like a little porch, as they didn't seem to like it.

We have a Snugs (used to be called Mr Snugs) small dog kennel in the garden. Kylie used to practically live in it - she doesn't go out a lot these days, but the others often use it to shelter from the rain. Not cheap, but they last forever. Ours has been in the garden for at least 10 yeears. The company that makes them, also makes Kayaks.

Lots of colours now - they were available in green and beige when we got ours

I'm sure the cat ones are fine (and cheaper) , but I thought a dog one would be more comfortable.

If you are anywhere near Hudderfield, someone is selling one, collection only - at £30 at the moment.

Thanks Kay! It was the Mr Snugs one that I saw on Amazon for abut fifty pounds. The reviews are mainly excellent, although some of the 3 star ones mention that its not good for a big cat....Storm is about 5.3kg

What an amazing selection of colours! However we will probably be really boring and choose one to blend in with the shrubs or something!

I know what you mean. Love the colours, but the colour we got 'watering can green' probably blends in better.

I am hoping for my brother to make mine out of two by fours and two by twos. My cats long for the fresh air.
