Re: Should I give away my cat?
first things first - get her spayed absolutely as soon as you can afford to - confined indoors but with her natural hormones still intact, she is probably frustrated a lot of the time, and unable to be the loving home companion you yearn for
it could make all the difference to your relationship with her, and frankly I wouldn't offer any other advice except that for the time being anyway

Re: Should I give away my cat?
Give her away
simple as that, you have a very selfish view towards pets, you want your cat to be a toy, a personal "feel good" piece of property rather than its own member of the family with attitude and behavior of its own.
Some cats are more affectionate, some are not, some change over time.
You seem so focused on yourself and your cats behavior towards you that IMO you shouldn't have gotten a cat in the first place if you weren't ready to accept a cat that may or may not be affectionate. And yelling at your cat? lol sorry, lady, but y'all need to sit on down and do some good readin' on how to communicate with a cat properly.
Like the guy who adopted my Casper, he'd yell at him and slap him on the ears whenever Casper would do something he didn't like, thank God Casper is back home where he belongs, with his mom and sister.
I'm sorry I'm being rude, I came here to upload some new pics of my cats in my cat topic, read this and when I read that you have that selfish attitude towards pets I see so many pet owners have I saw red I must admit, it's just the way I am, it irritates me beyond words when people are like this.
I could tell you about my cats, how different each of them is, how they changed over time, some became more affectionate, others became less willing to interact and get pets, never once have I thought of giving a pet away just because it doesn't behave the way I want it to, it's a living being, I bond with it, give it the best life possible and in return it LIVES and is happy and that's ALL i want from my pets.
We do share a very strong bond regardless of whether they like being petted and cuddled, regardless of whether they come when called or not and I make sure they're all happy, healthy, fed, cleaned and alive.
