Spidercat

Post by Judy Barnett »

After the sad passing of Yowlee earlier this year I don't think he would mind if I now changed my avatar picture to one of Georgie. This one always makes me smile. She was about four months old here. I had run a bath for my husband and both of us had forgotten about it . fortunately, this meant it had cooled somewhat. My intrepid kitten thought it would be so easy to walk the perimeter of the bath. oops. We heard this splosh followed by a black streak thundering down the stairs. I was trying to catch her to dry her off and my husband was laughing so hard I thought he was going to have a stroke. This picture was taken after I had got most of the wet off her and she stood streaming in the window.

Love the picture - I remember it well! :D I will miss Yowlee's pic though. I have Tommy on the laptop home page. I always say goodnight to him when I switch off. We do so miss those cuddle bunnies, don't we?

Oh Dear! Reminds me of when Badger was a rapidly growing kitten. He loved to do the bath circuit until one day he got too wide for the wall side and slid into the water with a mighty splash! Not that he cared, Maine Coons are unlike other cats and don't mind getting wet.

Oh dear, poor little skinny dripping kitten ... they do tend to blame you for these mistakes as well.

One of my Siamese, Majdhar, aka The Gibbon (as every mealtime was a case of a little Gibbon take) was strolling past the fishpond one day, when she suddenly spooked, levitated, and somehow jumped sideways into the pond. The day was warm, I raced to provide towel and sympathy, but she was furious!

The name Majdhar, by the way, means ... midstream

I was trying to raise a colony of golden orfe too; the intrusion of the Gibbon seemed to have scared them orfe, or they died orfe, or cleared orfe, or perhaps our local heron picked them orfe ... or were they just orfe-season?

And when I was in my teens I had a longhaired tortie, Saada, who liked to get into the last warm couple of inches of a bath and wade around, purring.... perhaps I should have called her Ophelia. Or Becky?
