Injured Feral Cat

Post by Billy Big Bolls »

Morning,
I have an injured (semi) feral cat in my house - he has a problem with his hind leg. I am not sure how he injured it.
My plan is to trap him and take him to a vet.
I want to avoid paying for any medical treatment - however not sure how to go about this
If anyone has any ideas/experience on how to do this - please i would be grateful for any advice

Thanks

Hi Billy (love the name  ) and welcome and good on you for sheltering this guy.

I know that the vet will check a cat for a chip for free, but there are plenty of rescue workers on here who will give you expert advice - just wanted to say hi, and you've come to the right place.

Oh, if you're on benefit and there is a reachable PDSA clinic near you, you're entitled to free treatment for him.

Good luck with him and hope you get him sorted :)

Try tuna :)

Oh and with regard to his big bolls - the CP can help re neutering.

If you contact a rescue, as Lilith says, such as Cats Protection (if you are in the UK?) they should be able to help you out.

Also, if you took a feral to a vets they may liaise with a rescue they deal with and pay, or pay so much. Best of luck, thankfully he has you looking out for his welfare.

Just to post an update
we took the cat to the vet - it was sedated and x-rayed.
the cat has a double leg break in one of its hind legs.
the options were either a pin in the leg or amputation - both involving surgery or termination.
we eventually found a charitable organisation who were willing to take the cat and pay for the insertion of pins into the leg.
once it is fit and well - it will be rehomed (we will not see Billy Big Bolls again  )

Thanks

Thank you for taking care of Billy, if it had been left to heal by itself, assuming he had survived he would have lived a life of pain, now he will be cared for and looked after and then can start a new life.

You may never see him again, but I'm sure he will never forget you in his own way, you were probably the first humans to show him kindness and love.
