Duvet covers that repel cat hair?

I have had my cat for almost 2 years to the day, and i have reached a point where i can not take my bedding getting all furry any more. So i though i would ask you guys if you can recommend any bedding that would be good for repelling hair.

i read that sateen can be decent, but i figure i would come here and ask you lot as i know you are all cat mad and would have experience with this kind of thing.

What about spreading an old sheet over your regular bedding? Polycotton is quite smooth, and they can be found in charity shops. You could take that outside and shake it. If that worked, it would save replacing the bedding you have now.

No, seriously, it is a problem, especially with a longhair, though elderly shorthaired cats spread permanent thistledown too ... gets up your nose, doesn't it?

I can't improve on Mary's idea but, if you've got a tumbledrier, I find that drying everything in there does blow off the clinging fur, so at least you start out with fluff-free bedding ... fur a while ...

Pure cotton is likely to be less prone to harbour static electricity than a fabric with artificial fibres in it, and therefore be less prone to attracting the hairs. Regular grooming with a brush or grooming mitt may help reduce the amount of hair - I find there is a considerable increase in the size of the dust bunnies round here when I fall behind on brushing and combing!

I use Mary's method - several cheap (now somewhat tatty) sheets that can be cycled between the bed and the washing machine. Not only do they keep Tilly's long fur off of the duvet (also worked for Badger when he was alive), also prevents muddy paw prints on the duvet as well.

I can't help with what repels cat hair, but I can tell you what to avoid.

A few years ago we got my Mum a nice, and rather expensive duvet set for Christmas, she couldn't think of anything else she wanted, so we got something a bit better than the cheap supermarket option. Unfortunately I think it was rather too heavy for her to handle by herself and when we came to clear the house out we found it and it looked as though it had hardly been used. My own duvet covers were getting rather on the thin side so instead of charity shopping it, i decided to keep and use it. I'm not sure what it is made off but it has an embossed pattern woven into the fabric (I'm sure there is a technical name of it, but I haven't a clue what). The cats seem to love it, and it loves their fur. The raised and tactile areas of the pattern seem perfect for pulling lose fur out, fortunately as they aren't allowed in the bedroom at night we just have to make sure it is covered during the day.

i am from Australia. i have three cats names of Dora, Tommy and Kitten. and they really love to sleep together in my bedding sometimes i have to sleep on sofa. earlier i used Egyptian cotton sheet sets and then i ordered online sateen cotton sets and yes they are good for this kind of issues it can easily repel cat hair.

For sheets we now have brushed cotton rather than smooth Egyptian cotton, and I'd have to check what the duvet cover is made of but that seems good too, cat and dog hairs. Of course our worst hair offender the Ragdoll died two years ago and that may have helped the hair situation.
