Has anyone treated sudden crossed eyedness in their cat?
My 5 month old kitten (Siberian) was fine until about 6 weeks ago. Then one day she kept her right eye closed a bit for about 2-3 days as if she had gotten something in it but was otherwise completely normal. She also had a bit of yellow discharge which looked like infectious. It cleared up though and eye was all open again.
About a week later I noticed the eye is slightly turned in towards the nose. It is most noticeable when she is sleepy or very relaxed. Really shows on photos, like a different cat!
Has anyone had similar experience and had a treatment experience?

Hi Fumbi,
Did you get eye drops from the vet? When she's awake does her eye look normal?
Cats have a third eyelid which can show when they're ill, but it can also show when they're falling asleep or asleep with the eye partially open - this can look quite strange. Could you post a photo?
If her eye doesn't look normal when she's awake you need to take her back to the vet.

Re: Sudden crossed eyedness in cat
I think you need to take her to the vet. Strabismus (cross eyes) can be genetically linked, but if it has developed suddenly in just one eye it may well be because of disease or injury, and your description of her recent episode sounds as if that might be the case here. I would take her to the vet ASAP.

This does need a vet's attention & as a matter of urgency. Do take the little one.

Thanks all for replies. Have vet appointment tomorrow! Her eye and eyelid looks looks totally normal (except pupil tuned in a bit).

Vet prescribed eye ointment (antibiotic) and told me to get Lysine tablets and give 125 g morning and evening for 2 weeks.
