Just want to say a HUGE Thankyou to everyone who supported Kitty and I with kind words and sound advice during the somewhat traumatic period during and after her spaying op.
Happy to say Kitty is now allowed out! She went out yesterday for a few hours and came home when called and rewarded with a treat for coming home. Same arrangement today 😊So pleased she's well and back to normal again - we have a happy healthy Kitty.
Once again Thankyou to all you lovely people and much love all your lovely cats 😻X

Great to hear she is doing well and things are back to normal.

We are all more than happy to offer advice where we can, and more than happy to talk about our own cats, sometimes it can be hard to get us to stop.

Please don't disappear off now she is better, we will all be happy to hear any updates on what she gets up to, and there are always new people looking for advice, the more voices there are the more likely they will find an answer here.

I certainly won't disappear Ruth B as I love hearing about everyone's cats and picking up hints and tips and I'm sure I'll be needing more advice in the months to come - the next pit stop at the vets is for her injections- we assume she hasn't had any - if her previous owners couldn't be bothered to spay her I doubt she's had injections.
We're just waiting until she's fully recovered and all fur grown over her shaved area before subjecting her - and us - to any more medical procedures!

I'd get her vaccs sorted asap if you are letting her out, she won't be fully covered till a week or so after the second one and you don't want her getting poorly. Definitely wouldn't wait until her fur has grown back, it could take months!

I would also advise getting the vaccinations done as quickly as possible, if she is back to her normal self there is no need to wait for the fur to grow back.

I don't want to scare you but several years ago the cleaner in the offices I worked in fostered cats for a charity, she had 5 cats of her own and 3 foster cats in a pen in the garden. Her cats were vaccinated, the charity didn't bother to vaccinate those in their care. One of the foster cats when down with feline enteritis. which even though precautions were taken quickly spread to the rest. All of her own became a bit ill but no worse, however all three of the foster cats died due to the disease. She was heart broken knowing their deaths had been easily preventable. I believe she stopped fostering after that.

I'm insinuating that Kitty is going to get ill straight off, but the thought of a cat dying to something I know I could have prevented is terrifying to me.

Thanks for the advice - will make appointment to get vaccinations as soon as possible as certainly don't want to take any chances on her catching anything awful from other cats as there are quite a lot in our area
