Tilly being naughty again!

I took the dogs out into the shared courtyard in front of the house to pee and poo and have a wander around, and we were greeted by Tilly-cat, who led them to the corner, pointed out the neighbours' cat peeping around a wall 20 yards away, and told them to chase it off home! She started doing this when Naughty Lenny lived here - Lenny was a big, bossy Bengal who attacked my cats on sight and cost me a small fortune in vet bills, so I rather felt he deserved to be sent back to his own garden, although I did worry a bit that he might one day realise that was actually bigger than the dogs. But the new cats are gentle, non-confrontational animals, and have been very careful about sharing the grounds politely. The dogs have now been given strict instructions to listen to me, not Tilly, and will be going out on leads if they let her lead them astray again!

Lol, the calculating little baggage!

I've generally had the opposite problem; I wouldn't dare let my Molly roam as I'm certain she'd attack any dog or child she met. Sulah, a fierce black cat who lived with me in the 70s, once chased an Alsatian out of the garden.

Later I owned my own Alsatian, Hannah, who was a total softy and mothered any kitten in sight. She was a typical dog, though; she needed me to be pack leader, but if I told her off anywhere near my bluepoint Siamese, Jacinth, Jacinth would back me up by grabbing Hannah round the neck and growling into poor Hannah's face while Hannah winced.

A pity Tilly can't train the new neighbour cat to be a bit more assertive! (With no harm occurring to Poppy or Sophy of course!)

We have a superb tiny little black cat named Winnie just across the road and every dog walker knows Winnie ...

Any dog showing an interest in her, Winnie flattens herself down in the grass as if to say, come on then if you think you're hard enough! And guess what - there isn't a dog in the neighbourhood that thinks it is, from Chihuahua to Rottweiler, they back off or detour or suddenly find something very interesting to investigate in the opposite direction!

My old naughty Tortie once launched herself off my shoulder to attack a collie, and another time chased a large Alsatian out of her kitchen, through the garden and away up the road yelping like a puppy. It was fine for this dog to come and eat up her leftovers in the garden, but the day it wandered into our kitchen was the last time we ever saw it.

My Tilly used to keep all the dogs round here under her paw. The jack Russel cross living a few doors down the road didn't dare go out into his own garden if Tilly was sitting there. Tilly is beginning to feel old now, and has retired from the dog harassing business much to the relief of the local dogs.
