Warning about Morrisons own brand Cat Tunnel with dangle toy

Post by KittyWitty »

Last night my worst nightmare nearly came true.

David and I were in bed and the boys were playing with a new play tunnel I bought them from Morrisons - it had two dangling balls and they were loving it. Then I heard strange meows from Whisky so I went through to the hall to find out what was wrong and that was were I found him with the dangling balls wrapped around his neck  I picked him up and tried to loosen the string but they were wrapped around pretty good - I shouted on David to come and help me and to get scissors.

We cut him out and I just held him close to me and didn't want to let him go but he got over the shock of it faster than I did and soon wanted down to play again and is right as rain - I clearly got to him just in time to stop the strings getting any tighter. I dread to think what would have happened if we weren't home - I am 100% positive that we would have came home and he would have been dead.

You can be sure that that tunnel has had all the dangling things cut off and even the ties off of it and Morrisons will be receiving a VERY strongly worded letter from me.

I am just so glad that I knew that his meow was different

From what I can see the majority have only one string with toy - morrisons has two strings with two toys right beside each other at the opening of the tunnel.

I really don't know how I never realised when I bought it that it was unsafe :( horrible way to learn!

Makes you go cold just thinking about it! I know some toys say not to let your cat play with them unsupervised, but you would not imagine they could be so dangerous. It is a lesson to us all.
Hugs to you and fusses to kitties.

Sadly a friend at work informed me of a similar story today, of her mum's friends kitten, but the person involved didn't get to the kitten in time.

Not with a morrissons toy, with a pets at home scratching post with a dangly bit.

Absolutely horrible and I have come home from work after worrying all day and cut the dangly bit off Tig and Tiz's post. It's nowhere near as long as the one the other poor kitten had but I hate to risk it!

Pets at home have taken the item off from sale though, which I suppose is good news and stops anything else happening.. Just a shame that a kitten had to suffer for it to become known..

Oh no   poor baby

Morrisons still hasn't got back to me, neither has trading standards. People just don't seem to care about animals

I suggest everyone posts this on Facebook. Morrisons should be ashamed of themselves.
