My Cat Doesn’t Show Attention to Partner

Hi,

Hopefully this is the right place to put this question.

My cat is around 3 years old and for the majority of his life he has always favoured me when it comes to getting scratches, playing and generally spending time with me which I love but on the flip side he largely ignores my partner as I think he’s become custom to only seeking me out.

The problem is that it was my girlfriend who originally wanted a pet so you can understand that she gets quite upset that my cat seemingly avoids her and frequently asks for a second pet that she can spend time with.

Whilst obviously I know I’m trying to manufacture what’s been an organic relationship with our pet, I just wanted to know if there is anything we can try to do to shift his preference or if there is anything my girlfriend and I can do to improve their relationship?
