Lost without you Miss Coco

Post by Traceg1972 » Wed Jul 15, 2015 10:36 am

My beautiful, amazing, loving Miss Coco, who would have been 4 yesterday, on the 14th of July, was so cruelly killed by a hit and run and driver, at 6.30pm on Monday night. 10 minutes before my husband, my 7 year old daughter and I returned from the shops.

As we drove up the street I saw a crowd looking down at something and someone moved and I saw my majestic, half Mainecoon, Coco, lying dead. With a horrendous injury to her head.

I am angry at the person who was seen getting out their car, looking at her and driving away. And I am eternally grateful to my neighbours who knew her and lifted her off the road and onto the pavement.

We were only gone for half an hour and I thought it couldn't be her as I thought she was sitting on her favourite chair in the house.

But the rest of her beautiful body was intact and there was no mistaking her gorgeous markings.

I never thought I would ever write on a forum about her.

I am lost without her. She loved cuddles with me every day.

I cannot stop crying. And I just don't know what to do without her.

My husband buried her in the garden. I haven't been able to go outside since Monday night I am so filled with grief.

If anyone even reads this and thinks they can help me, please do.

Many thanks, coco's Mum, Tracy xxxx

Dear Tracy,

I am so sorry to hear about Miss Coco. What a terrible shock for you all. It is little comfort I know, but it sounds like it happened very fast and she would not have known much about it.

A plague on the callous driver, who just left her there.

Give yourself time to grieve, it's only natural. In time the good memories with replace the bad. Some folks on here plant something special in memory of their lost ones. I have little memorial stones to my dogs and cats. It helps to keep them close.

RIP Miss Coco, ((Hugs)) to you.

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for your kind words.

The sun finally came out in Glasgow for a few hours yesterday, and I spent a couple of hours in the garden making Coco's place look special.

I am just finding it impossible to accept that I will never see her again. I feel as if these tears will never stop.

I just really need the horriffic memory of how she looked on Monday night to be replaced by happy memories of all the times we shared. I guess that will come in time?

Thanks again Sue, your words are very comforting to me xxx

Hi Tracy

I’m so sorry to hear about Miss Coco, what sad and horrible news. I won’t type what I think about the callous driver that left without any thought.

This is a great site to talk to people about your grief, it helped me so much when we lost Giggsy, the people on here are amazing. We lost our Giggsy 4 months ago now and I’m still upset and miss him loads. There is some great advice on this forum that makes things better and you will eventually remember the good times.

Giggsy was our first ever cat and our best mate, and I’ll love him forever. I’ve done loads to remember him. His cutest picture in a frame that sits and watches football with us, his old treat shelf is now our chocolate shelf so we say “cheers Giggsy” every time we take a treat. I’ve even dug up some of our garden and planted a rose bush. Giggsy knew I hated gardening so would appreciate the gesture.

I found doing all the normal things for the first time without him the hardest:
• Hoovering without worrying about him being there to be scared of the noise.
• Lifting the quilt on a cold night to let him snuggle under.
• Feeling safe to put my toast down without him coming over and stealing the butter.

All these things show how much they are a part of our lives, and also how good a life we give them.

As someone who never believed it I can assure you that things do get easier. You’ll find your own way of coping for sure, take your time and don’t forget to enjoy the life you gave Miss Coco.

Thinking of you guys and don’t stop sharing on here, it really helps.

Chris

Dear Chris,

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely memories of Giggsy with me. Made me smile thru my tears as Coco loved football too :)). My hubby is football mad and when she was a kitten she used to drive him mad by sitting on the TV stand and trying to chase the ball :)).

I taught her a trick of after the count of 3 retrieving a tin foil ball and bringing it back to me in her mouth lol. She was so good at it and she always looked so pleased that I was praising her.

What you said about the Hoover strikes such a cord.....I took the Hoover into the living room on Monday afternoon a few hours before she died. I didn't even switch it on yet and she bolted from her chair, and I was laughing saying, I haven't even switched it on yet lol!!! It's still sitting there. But it has to go on today. I must get moving.

I've just had to inform my insurer, and they said we will pay you the "market value" of what she is worth!......I said you won't be able to as she is priceless :((((.

I was told to inform our vet, which I just did, and hearing her say I will update Cocos file, which can only be I assume with the word deceased has me inconsolable again.

Thank you so much for responding to me and sharing your memories of Giggsy with me. I am so sorry for your loss.

So sorry to read this Tracy, ive just joined the forum myself after my cat, Rabbit, was hit and killed last week. The person that hit him, got in his car and drove off, and left the man in the car behind to pick him up and take him to a nearby vet.
its totally devastating to lose a beautiful family pet, and my heart goes out to you.
i havent called my insurers or vet yet, im not sure i can face it.
my thoughts are with you and your family.

Dear Hays,

I am so sorry for your loss. It's devastating having your beautiful cat killed on the road and made all the worse by the fact that both drivers in our cases knew what they had done, and just left the scene :(((. Just not a thing I would ever be able to do.

I notified my vet and my insurer today, and I could hardly speak through tears. I just felt I wanted it to do it, but just do it when you feel ready honey.

Thinking of you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Tracy - it must have been dreadful to find her like that. I lost my Peaches to a similar hit and run, but at least the driver moved her to the side of the road, and at least she looked relatively unhurt. I hope you can remember her as she was, full of fun and life, but I know that will take some time. ((((hugs)))

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me and I am so sorry for the loss of Peaches.

Friends and family have been sending me photos that they have of Coco. At all different stages of her short 3 years. It's bringing me a bit of comfort. And I hope that in time the horrific image that haunts me of my gorgeous girl will fade.

I feel so awful that I couldn't protect her. She never went far and didn't go out for long and we chatted to someone we met in the shops for 5 mins or so and I have tortured myself with what if thoughts. What if I got back just ten mins before? However had that been the case I may have seen the accident myself and I think that would have, if it's possible! been worse.

Thank you again. I so appreciate your kind words.

It breaks my heart reading all these horrendous RTA reports. We've just had the same thing happen to our lovely one year old Lucy. I just wish you all the best and hope you are coping.

Dear BK,

I am so so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Lucy. At such a young age. You must be heart broken. It has been 10 weeks since our Coco lost her life in this awful way. It seems like a lifetime ago. I am still shedding tears for her. But if it's any comfort to you, it would appear that the old adage of time being a great healer, which is something that I always dislike people saying......is true. I'm able to think of all the great times we had with her in the time she was here. My daughter had an English essay to write. The remit was it had to be reflective, and under 1000 words. She is a very quiet, deep girl, and this week she wrote a straight from the heart essay called.....1000 words. A letter to Miss Coco. We all cried our eyes out. Our little furry families have a huge impact on us eh? I'm sending you and yours all our condolences. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your Lucy.

Best regards, Tracy x

So sorry to hear about your terrible loss of Miss Coco . We lost our beautiful Mainecoon Kara to a RTA just over 3 weeks ago , so really understand your feelings at this time . I myself think if only ... . However I think of all the love & pleasure she had & gave , plus the fact she did not want for anything (spoilt !) As a rescue who we had had from 2 months old she was so much loved . Do not blame yourself .... and think of all the good times you had with her. Thinking of you at this time x And thinking also of the other forum members here who have posted about their tragic losses x RIP Beautiful Cats .
