...neurological problem out of nowhere -cat put to sleep :'(

Post by Lyanax »

Feeling so heartbroken. Had to put my cat down last night. All came out of nowhere. She couldn't walk she had been to two different vets over two days. They said they believed it was neurological. Her front paws had become paralyzed and she could no longer go the toilet by herself. She was meant to be five this month. She wouldn't react to any medication or steroids which the vets said was not normal. The vets contacted specialists that said even if I had paid thousands for an MRI scan that I would still probably not of been able to cure her because it was so specialist whatever condition/ disease she had. She was fine last week. I am so heartbroken right now.

i feel like i cant rest until i know whats happened....i dont understand why the front of her body became paralyzed.....out of nowhere. I want to know what caused it. Why her body stopped responding. The vets said something about her spine as well.....that it was linked to this whole thing...her back legs still kind of worked...........i feel so helpless right now :( had a day off work because it all happened last night and i cant stop crying.

So very very sorry to hear.

You must be in shock, and the sudden loss of her while she was so young is doubly cruel.

You've come to the right place though; most people on here must have lost a cat suddenly and we can all identify with you. I think everyone will agree that you did as much for her as you could, and letting her go was the last caring act you could do for her - although at the moment that won't be any comfort.

Keep in touch, love and hugs, Lil x

So very sorry for everything you have been through, the grief and the shock is unbearable I know. There will come a time though when you will feel better and remember all the joy and fun she brought. You did the best possible thing for the wee soul, she is so beautiful and looks just like my cher who we lost in April. I know nothing anyone says will ease the pain but take comfort in knowing she was loved right up till the end. X

I am so very sorry to hear you devastating news but this forum is a tremendous help for us that have lost a beautiful and much loved puss and at such a young age it makes it harder to bear. My gorgeous Zac aged 8 had to be put to sleep after vets visits and a visit to a referral vet who diagnosed a brain tumour.

You will getlots of support from the lovely people on here so keep logging in, we are all grieving for a much loved and missed puss and understand each other.

Stay brave and remember all of the love between you both xx

I'm so very sorry for your loss, it's hard enough to lose an older cat, but out of the blue like that with such a young cat must feel especially cruel. I hope you can eventually take some comfort in the fact that you took good care of her, and were able to help her and take the pain away when fate dealt such a cruel blow. (((hugs)))

Rest in peace lovely girl. xx
