Cats urgently need homes - SE5 area

Post by kirstielamont »

Hi there,

I have a lovely community garden (fruit and veg) close to me and they're sadly over run by kittens. The youngest litter is roughly 7/8 weeks, the next lot up are approx 4 months and then the oldest litter is under a year. They've been feeding them (on advice) so they're quite healthy, albeit somewhat feral. Sadly now volunteers are stopping coming to help with the garden and nobody wants to eat the produce. I'm a real cat lover but I was really shocked by how over run the project has become.

If you know anyone who would consider taking one (or them all, if you're a shelter) we'd be delighted to here from you.

Thanks for your time.

:( That's sad, it sounds like you need more help than just new homes. Has anyone contacted a local rescue? It sounds like a trap and neuter program needs to be run at the very least and the youngest litter need catching ASAP so they can be familiarised with humans. It may be a little late but there's still a chance they could be given enough interaction to avoid a feral life.

Sadly the rescue centres all seem to be full. I'm going to take some photos for London Rescue Centre and they'll run an appeal. Any advice very gladly received.

I was thinking more for support with trapping/neutering than taking them in as I know the shelters are always pretty much full to bursting :( There are a lot of lovely folks on here involved in rescue though so hopefully someone will have some advice for you as it sounds like a pretty bad situation!
