Any advice on introducing a senior lady to 2 resident cats?

Post by JacquiA »

Hi there - just after a little advice if anyone has experienced something similar. We have just adopted a senior girl ... around 15 years old with thyroid problems who just really needs somewhere warm and loving to live out her retirement. We have 2 resident cats - both also rescues around 5 years old, a tabby boy and a tortie girl, we adopted 18 months ago. At the moment our senior lady is in her own room during the day whilst we are out, and she is joining us of an evening - she is keeping herself to herself but does hiss at the other two if she spots them... the tortie (surprisingly!) is ignoring her but the tabby hisses and growls at her - and will hide upstairs if she is downstairs. We are successfully keeping them apart (to save stressing either of them out) but it would be nice if they could tolerate each other! It is very early days so I'm not too worried at the moment but if anyone has any words of wisdom it would be appreciated!
Many thanks.
