dead cat found

Awoke this morning to find a well groomed but dead cat next to the path.maldon essex.
im not a pet owner,but thought cat maybe chipped ,who do i contact ?

Hi, the best thing to do would be to take the cat to the nearest vet to check for a chip or to see whether the vet knows who it may belong to and ask around the area.
Thanks for caring for this poor little puss and a possible owner who will be missing it.
