Hi all,
My cat went missing two months ago, I have another cat but she is very shy and timid. I am considering getting another one to keep her company whilst were at work as she never goes out and also because I really miss my affectionate lap cat, he really was a very special cat and my girl is just too shy and timid, she'll never be a lap cat!
Is it too soon and should I wait longer to see if he turns up or is it safe (and extremely sad) to say he's gone forever, I guess it's an impossible question to answer!!!

I'd personally give it another three months - not only because your lost boy might turn up, but because your shy girl may start to come out of her shell now she is an only cat - it's very common for a quiet cat to take a back seat when another more pushy cat is around, but it's also not unknown for that same cat to come to enjoy being the centre of attention

give her lots of attention and play to encourage her - she may surprise you
