Adopted Feral Cat need advice?

Post by Christina_HQ »

Me and my partner adopted our cat almost 3 weeks ago and were told she was feral (she doesn't seem feral at all). We noticed quite quickly once bringing her home that she couldn't hear which we weren't informed about by the shelter. We took her to the vet who said she had badly infected ears, so we have been using the treatment but her ears still seem infected and her hearing hasn't seemed to have improved. It is going to end up costing a lot of money for further investigations and would like to know where we stand as surely the shelter should have known? Also she seems to be congested and sneezes a lot, any idea what this could be? We love her so much and we will do whatever to get her better but it is annoying that she wasn't checked properly when she was in the shelter and we weren't told. We will be contacting the vet again after the second week of her treatment but was hoping to get some advice before then.

Grateful for any advice.

We adopted a cat with a similar problem, and it had quite a bit of nasal drainage too. You don’t mention whether your cat has that or not, but we finally paid for a culture to be done to determine exactly what could be used to treat him. Turns out what we’d been giving him wouldn’t work.
