Adopting neighbors cat

Hi
Our neighbor is moving away and we are adopting their cat to give good home. Neighbors house will have new owner who has 2 cats. She is used to us and often stays overnight or visits in day and we feed her with their owners consent.

We will keep her indoors for 1 week or so then gradually let her out with supervision if we can. Her current owners will deactivate the catflap in her current house to ensure she cant sneak back in after they have moved.

What can we do to try and destress her and try to stop her sneeking back to her old house. We dont want her fighting with the 2 new cats in her old house, or getting stressed as her old "parents" have moved on.

Any advice ?

Thanks Jstu

what a lucky girl to have such a good neighbour

it seems to me you will have no problems as long as the incoming neighbours are willing to co-operate - is there going to be a gap between the current ones moving out and the new ones moving in? how long will they keep the cat flap closed?

a couple of weeks of having all her food from you should do it - if the current owners would stop feeding her right away that would help, as it would give you a chance to see how she reacts
