Cat Chat Winter Newsletter 2014

Hello,

Just to let you all know that the Cat Chat Winter newsletter is now available to read. It is a quarterly bulletin of the homings and happenings at Cat Chat, including lots of super success stories of rescued cats now happily homed. Cat Chat are also helping to promote Catwork Sanctuary’s “1,000 FIV Cats Project” aiming to document the real-life stories of 1,000 much-loved FIV cats from all over the world. The project is not even halfway yet, so if you or anyone you know owns or has owned an FIV cat, more contributions are needed (details on page 1).

The 1,000 FIV project is really interesting. The bar chart for each cat plotting it's health throughout it's life is fascinating. I've had Lily since she was 10 years old, and even though she's not FIV, I reckon we'd have had her in the serious illness bracket every year that we've had her! By comparison, having an FIV cat would have been a breeze!

Great newsletter - really enjoyed reading it, especially the happy endings. Sad to hear there are still such long stay cats in rescue. Lily and Mitz were in rescue for 2 years before they came to live with me - heartbreaking - there was no need for it, as they were (and Lily still is) lovely cats from day 1.

As well as the newsletter this site really is excellent and so many friendly and helpful people on here.

I got my Tigger from a cats home, he was dumped outside in a cardboard box along with some other kittens, think he ay have been approx a year and a half when we homed him and he is now roughly 15 or 16 and battling on despite being diagnosed with cancer. Although it's sad to see cats needing homes it's also heartwarming to see the lucky ones that have been given homes. If only I had a big house with lots of spare time I would love to re-home a houseful!
