Some very, very sad news....

Post by MysticalVamp »

I had some very sad news this morning.

As some of you will know, earlier this year I fostered a very young female cat, she was a feral who had been trapped and was pregnant at only 10 months old. By vets orders for her own safety her pregnancy was terminated. She came to me as a very scared young cat, she needed guidance and she needed to learn to trust humans.
It took a while, and lots of treats! But she warmed up to me eventually. And in the end, she was only in her crate at night, spending all day out with my two neutered toms. I named her Lily, with the nickname Lilycat.

I wanted to keep her, but my fiance was unsure and said it wasn't a great idea since we already had two. So I found her a nice home, someone who would love her dearly! I was lucky to find her such a nice home so quickly, it was hard letting her go and I'll admit I cried! But I find myself crying again tonight, as I found out this morning that she was unfortunately in a fatal RTA on Thursday.

R.I.P Little Lilycat. I couldn't keep you, and I feel for the family who adopted you, but I will always remember you... My little foster girl xxx

Rest in Peace little Lilly.

Once I was a lonely cat, just looking for a home.
"I had no place to go" she said, "no one to call my own."
"I wandered up and down the streets, in rain, in heat, and snow.
I ate whatever I could find; I was always on the go."

"My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain.
And no one stopped to give a pat or gently say my name.
I never saw a loving glance; I was always on the run.
For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.

"And then one day I heard a voice...so gentle, kind and sweet,
And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.
"No one again will hurt you," was whispered in my ear.
"You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear.
You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat.
And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet."

I was afraid, I must admit; I've lived so long in fear.
I can't remember when I let a human come so near.
And as she tended to my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur,
She told me about the rescue group and what it meant to her.

She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends.
And in the center, there is you, protected by new friends.
And all around you are the ones who check the pounds,
And those that share their home after you've been found.

And all the other folk are searching near and far.
To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star".
She said, "There is a family who's waiting patiently,
and pretty soon we'll find them, just you wait and see."

And then they'll join our circle; they'll help to make it grow,
so there'll be room for more like you, who have no place to go."
I waited very patiently; the days they came and went.
Today's the day, I always thought, my family will be sent.

Then just when I began to think it wasn't meant to be,
there were people standing there, just gazing down at me.
I knew them in a heartbeat; I could tell they felt it too.
They said, "We have been waiting for a special cat like you."

Now every night, I say a prayer to all the gods that be,
"Thank you for the life I lived and for all you've given me.
my life was brief but so much joy came from what I made
Now I know to smile while sleeping in memories I've laid.

So, so sorry to hear this. Poor darling little Lilycat. She was a truly beautiful baby. Her family must be devastated too. She looks so like my little black 'baby' Lara, who is so foolhardy and stupid that I've stopped her going outside now. Although Lilycat's life was short it was happy and that was down to you. Feeling for you at this time. (((hug)))

Thank you all so much for your kind comments, Mrs Kane that poem was beautiful and it fits so well!

Her owners are having her cremated and scattering her ashes, but they are willing to give me some and I'll be having them put into a special Suncatcher to remember her as she loved the sun..

My heart goes out to you & her adopted family. Once you take them into your heart it just breaks when they leave. As I think my darling girl Mayday channeled me to this site I hope she's now looking after your darling Lily. Huge hugs from Australia. I visited the Buddhist temple yesterday & was guided to offer incense & a candle offering. Three weeks yesterday since my girl took her final breath. When I'm next there next week I'll light one for Lily too.
