I cannot believe he was in such a bad way, and was alone all that time...but step by step he's getting better..,he's my world and I'm so happy to have him home, and I hope he carries on getting stronger xCrewella wrote:Your poor boy, when you think of them wandering alone and in pain for all that time ..... it just doesn't bear thinking about, does it.
Thank heavens you got him back and he is, hopefully, now on the mend. xx

Luckily, cats are amazingly resilient and he did make it back to you in the end. I'm sure he will get better, one way or the other, and go on to be a happy and much loved cat again, as Basil did. Me and the gang here are rooting for him! xxSamis Mummy wrote:I cannot believe he was in such a bad way, and was alone all that time...but step by step he's getting better..,he's my world and I'm so happy to have him home, and I hope he carries on getting stronger xCrewella wrote:Your poor boy, when you think of them wandering alone and in pain for all that time ..... it just doesn't bear thinking about, does it.

Sami update;
He's getting stronger and eating well...
Went to the vet this morning to have to dressing changed and he now weighs 2.85kg
His wound is healing well, and unless we can smell his wound we don't have to go back until next Monday!
Well done Sami....Mummy is very proud

That's great news. Very glad to hear it. Hope Sami keeps on doing well. Seems like the poor chap lost a lot of weight during his ordeal.

Yes he lost about half his body weight...he was 2.1kg when he went in, and normal weight is about 4.4kg I think...
But so far so good...

Bless him, so glad to hear he's progressing as he should, and everything here still crossed for him - and hoping that he starts putting weight back on now; I'm sure he will. He sounds to be a tough customer, all power to him x

Considering a lot of his energy must be going into body repairs and fighting infection, to put on 0.75kg over the last two weeks is good going. Weight never seems to go back on as fast as it comes off when they are unwell. I'm sure a lot of his improvement is down to the loads of TLC he is getting as well has his own dogged(!) spirit.

True it must be doing that. Yes it's a steady weight gain and you're right about it taking a bit of time when they are ill. Lol I hope us fussing is helping. But he is miaowing for cuddles as well. Yes he's tough little nut:)alanc wrote:Considering a lot of his energy must be going into body repairs and fighting infection, to put on 0.75kg over the last two weeks is good going. Re: My cat is missing - Eastwick (Found)
Sami went back to the vet yesterday...his wound is healing well, blood cell count is good, he is now 3kg and is allowed some "normal food" as well as the special food from the vet. He's definitely my clever boy...and my regular vet (that we see at our vets, as the vet hospital is not our normal vets, although it's part of the practice) says he doesn't know how Sami has survived...

Hey sorry, never spotted this till now - glad to hear Sami's progressing so well and especially about the weight gain and good appetite. I too agree it's a miracle he survived all that, poor lad.

Sami is doing well. His blood count is 28 and normal is 30. His wound is healing. But will need the dressing for a while yet. He may need a skin graft but that won't happen unless it doesn't heal naturally. He's still cuddly!

So glad he's continuing to put on weight and hope the skin graft doesn't have to happen; may he go from strength to strength
