Cat with a cold

Post by willowdragon »

My cat has been sneezing and had some eye discharge. We saw the vet on Monday, he confirmed she has a cold and said it would get better by itself. He went ahead with her vaccine boosters.
Two days later the discharge has gone, and she's more active but the sneeze is worse.
Should I be worried?

Hi there - yes, cats can have mild colds just as humans can, and recover by themselves, but if you're worried at all, your vet surgery shouldn't mind you phoning for advice; that's what they're there for.

Keep her warm, without coddling her of course, and if she seems at all off her food, try her with something smelly and fishy; if their noses are bunged up and they can't smell their food it can affect their appetite but a fishy smell often changes their minds.

Hope she's feeling better soon; it's a good sign that her eyes have cleared; all the very best :)
