Yowlee update mark 2

Post by Judy Barnett »

Man's finest achievements. The wheel, Vinci's Mona Lisa, San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, Yowlee's early morning Pete sample; wait what?? Yes ladies and gentlemen I've struck gold first time! How about that then :D

Yowlee is taking a bit of a nosedive again in spite of the meds. I've been waiting for the results of the urine test since 28th Dec. I phoned the vets the day after and was told that the vet would call me back which they didn't. I called round on Monday but of course they were closed for bank holiday! I've been at work all day today but I'll try calling them again. My husband says their seemingly casual behaviour could be because the test doesn't show anything serious, but I can't help but worry. They've talked about x rays but at 17 the chances of getting my already sick, elderly cat back from anaesthesia seem remote. I wish I could just sit him down with a cup of tea and ask him where it hurts.

Poor old Yowlee. I know where J is coming from, but I still think you should call the vet again. Even if it is only to put your mind at rest. They may have lost or messed up the results like they have with D's results - 6 weeks and waiting!

Give the old fella a fuss from his aunty Sue (Yowlee, not J!)

Finally got the test back for Yowlee. A little protein in his urine but no sign of infection. He's a bit brighter this morning so on with the meds until May. :)

Hi folks,
Back from the vet's again with Yowlee, he came upstairs this morning panting like a hound dog. His sides were heaving and he was clearly struggling. He's lost More weight and is now down to below 4 kilos. The vet said it sounds like his heart murmur has got worse and he is now in heart failure as well as kidney failure. She said he was probably panting with the exertion of climbing the stairs. However we've just given him his tea and he's now tucking in as if to say, nope I ain't ready to go yet folks! She's said that at this stage to just give him what he wants to eat so I'll be ordering the caviar and Cristal Champagne tomorrow.

Ah poor old lad - but old lad battling on.

You might remember me mentioning Gorgeous George, aka Beast of Bodmin, a three-quarter Siamese boy of mine; he did exactly the same, a small exertion tired him out, but he clung to his life.

By the sound of it Yowlee wants to stay with you for a good while longer, fusses to him x

Good old Yowlee. You'll just have to install a Stannah stairlift!

Well, there's life in the old dog; sorry, cat yet. I was making tea tonight when I heard the most unearthly hoohar in the drive. I opened the back door to find Georgie pinned against the back of the car by the neighbourhood bully, a big black and white called Tut. I was just about to go out and rescue my shaken little girl when Yowlee shot past me, nearly bowling me over in the process, and started laying in to a very surprised looking Tut! After seeing him off and standing there with his tail brushed out, he calmly turned round and trotted back into the house followed by an unharmed,(to my relief) Georgia. He then started coughing and looked up at me as if to say,'I'm poorly you know'! I'm beginning to thick he's having me on! :o

LOL - Yowlee 1 - Tut lost!

Good on yer, Yowlee, you show 'em! :D

Hmmm, I think they do rather put it on sometimes though. Reminds me of a lovely stinky tomcat I used to feed when I was a kid (wasn't allowed to adopt him.) When we first met he had a poorly paw. This healed, but he used to wait in a flowerbed for when I came home and hurry down the drive, meow meow, paw held aloft, for food and sympathy.

Trouble was, he used to forget which paw it was ...

Yay, way-to-go Yowlee! :D What does Georgia think of her big brother now?

Sounds like the sort of thing dear old Tommy would have done.

Pass on some fusses to 'our hero'.

Its surprising how often cats do come to the rescue of their family members in these sorts of incident. I've mentioned before how Tilly saw off Angry cat from up the road who was attacking Badger, but I can also remember some 50years ago when our neighbors cat, Tinkerbelle ( a small grey and white girl of usually timid disposition) shot out and saw off a stranger's dog that was attacking their Yorkshire Terrier. My dog at the time (a Beagle, and rather afraid of cats) was also known to come to Tinkerbelle's aid at times, chasing off other cats that were chasing her.

Awwwww - go Yowlee! :D

My lot get on OK, and Daz definitely brings kills home for the others to share, but the current gang is nothing like as close as my original cat family. We used to have five cats who were three generations of the same family, with the matriarch Giddy in charge and often they used to sleep in a big heap on the sofa. If you were ever trying to pill one or cut their claws and they started to wail, the whole family would immediately come running from all corners of the house to see what was up!

I am so sorry to have to tell you all but Yowlee is now very poorly. His heart is giving out and he is struggling to breath. We called the vet's yesterday and they think its now time. We will be taking him in Monday afternoon, giving us a couple of days to say goodbye. Please pray for him . I'm sorry I can't write any more right now.
