Cat opening and closing mouth rythmically

Post by Gracep »

My cat, Salem, has been opening and closing his mouth is a rythmic pattern over and over. He's mostly outdoor, but comes inside to sleep and eat. Otherwise, he's behaving normally, except that he's being very compliant. Not running when you yet to pick him up. He does protest vocally and his voice sounds fine. I've never seen a cat do this before. I'm thinking of isolating him until I can get him to the vet. It won't let me post a video. He will stop when he's being pet. But then starts right up again. Help!

Took him to the vet. Asthma attack and fluid on the lungs. He's going to be fine.

Glad to hear it was a quick diagnosis and he is going to be fine. Has the vet given you anything to give him if it happens again?

Always wise to get vet advice when there is a sudden change in behaviour - I'm glad he is going to be OK.
