? about cat grass
Well I got some and grew it (it took 4 days) and Theo just sniffed it and walked away. Is there anything I could do to encourage him to eat it because ive read that indoor cats really need to eat grass to prevent hair balls forming in there stomach. I got the feeling he didn't like it touching his nose when he was sniffing at it. Its about 3 inches long. Also do I have to water it each day.
Thanks guys

It's a tough plant, a type of wheat, so not really an indoor plant. I When I grew it I kept it in a sheltered place outside (greenhouse, porch). If it is dry yes, water it but don't over do it (gardening tip overnanny pamy wrote:Also do I have to water it each day.

As for Theo turning his nose up at it - sorry, can't help you there! Perhaps he just doesn't like it. Just one thing, if a cat feels the (medicinal) need for grass they will eat it (even if they don't like it).

I wouldn't let him graze on it even if he wants to, because he would only pull it up by the roots
try cutting a few blades and offering them to him by hand, from above as he will find it easier to take them properly into his mouth - if he's never eaten grass he might not recognise the smell (if it has any)

Willow's the one for grass. I've seen her nibbling on couch grass like a rabbit, from the tip, munch munch, all the way down to the ground!
She even did the same to a catmint plant. I wondered where it had gone until I got up close and found a pathetic little hedgehog of a plant covered in a fine layer of black hair.
(and a stoned cat)
