Vibes for Buster please

Post by booktigger »

Please can I have some vibes for Buster please? he wasn't interested in his supper last night or his breakfast this morning, he has been sick a couple of times and is now just very quiet and not interested in much. He seems a bit dehydrated so we've syringed some fluids into him which got him to eat 3 dreamies. It's 4 years since he had his kidney removed and his values have been going up this year. Ironically he's booked in for bloods on thu, suspect we'll be there earlier!

Sending all good vibes and wishes your way.

We are going through something similar with out Tommy. He is now on steroids and B vits and is eating and drinking much better. He is also less depressed, long may it last.

Thinking about you. (hugs)

Thinking of you and Buster today. Does he like those creamy licky-sachets? They might get vitamins and some fluids into him. Headbutts and fusses to the lovely boy - so worrying for you but I hope it's just a blip. xx

He's never had them, as he has a sensitive stomach so never risked them. I syringed some more water in him which made him sick, brought him downstairs to sit on the sofa with me but he's gone on the windowsill and ignored me. Hasn't asked to go out all day

Poor little lad - he's definitely not feeling himself, is he. I hope the vet can give him something to make him more comfortable - it could be that he's in pain at the moment. I think you'll be at the vet sooner and he might need some intravenous fluids unless you can get water into him. x

Well, he came in the kitchen for his tea and was sick again, so rang the emergency vet, while on the phone he decided to show an interest in playing! He's had a little bit of food but think he'll be going to the vet in the morning. He could be in pain but unfortunately can't have metacam.

He was still very quiet and wanting to hide this morning, so just dropped him off at the vets. They are going to get bloods back today, he's had a couple of injections and they are going to give him fluids. Going back for him at 6.30

The vets rang at lunch, he's had fluids and pain relief. still lip licking though. He's been given renal food and pilchards, not eaten either. Not much change in him, so just waiting for bloods

Yep, he had an anti nausea and vit b injection when I dropped him off this morning, she's hoping it's just because he's there that is making him not want to eat

Sadly he didn't come home with me, he had an infection which had affected his kidney. One value had gone from 8 to 43, the other was unreadable. She offered fluids and abs for 24 hours to see if he could fight the infection but didn't know how much damage had been done to his kidney, but thought it would only buy him weeks at the most and I didn't want that for him. This way he had a good quality of life till the last 48 hours. Ironically I never thought it would be his kidney that got him in the end but knew he'd go downhill quickly

Oh Desley, I'm so sorry. Buster was one of the old crew on CC, I remember your early days with him. You did everything that could be done for him, and you were clearly so find of him. RIP Buster, you will be missed. Take care Desley xx

Oh no, I'm so very sorry to hear this. You fought and won so many battles alongside him that it's hard to take in that this one just couldn't be overcome. You always did your very best for him, and I'm quite sure your decision for him was the right one - he was a lucky boy to have had you fighting his corner all this time. (((hugs)))

Rest in peace much-loved Buster. xx

Sorry to hear about Buster Desley. I know how hard you worked to keep him healthy, against the odds. We can only do our best for them. I agree there was no point keeping him hanging on for a short time with a poor quality of life.

I am so very very sorry - the hardest decision for us to make, yet the greatest gift we can give them; a dignified, peaceful and pain free passing

Good night Buster, sleep tight and sweet dreams - RIP

(((hug))) Desley; I was in the same situation as you 5 years ago with Jasper and had to make that same decision. Thinking of you xxx
