Cat Homing Page Manager

A voluntary position, working online, from home, on a flexible hours basis. We are looking for a reliable person to join our friendly team of Cat Homing Page Managers. Your time and skills will directly help more rescued cats find homes...

If you love cats and want to help them, volunteering from your own home, this could be just the job for you.

Job Outline
You will be assisting specific cat rescue shelters by managing their Cat Chat Homing Pages, including preparing and uploading images, and adding details of their cats for adoption. Each shelter’s requirements differ, but most often their need is for us to replicate or copy cats’ images and information from their own website or Facebook page, and upload it to their Cat Chat page. Some improving of images and correcting of text may be required. This generates more cat homing enquiries for those overstretched rescue shelters who don't have the time or resources to manage the pages themselves. Everything is done through your regular web browser, so no website-building knowledge is needed. You will, however need to be willing to learn how to use a basic content management system (guidelines and support provided). You will also be liaising with rescue shelters by email.

Applicants must be fully competent at preparing images for the web, ie: cropping, resizing, improving and optimising images ready for posting online. You will need to have access to an appropriate image programme, (we are unable to supply software, however there are some good, free online image editing tools available if needed). This role requires good organisational skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and an excellent command of English. You will need to be fully computer literate and able to use basic spreadsheets.

Time Commitment
Hours are flexible, and the role can be carried out at any time of day. Maintenance of each of your allocated Cat Homing Page(s) should be carried out at least once a fortnight (more often if possible) and can take up to an hour at a time (sometimes longer), depending on the size and scope of your allocated shelters. Additionally, the post holder will be required to log in to their Cat Chat mailbox at least every couple of days, in case their allocated shelter(s) needs further assistance.

Additional Information
Applicants must be 18 or over and resident in the UK or Ireland. Two references will be required from shortlisted applicants. Cat Chat is a friendly, fully inclusive team.
