Velvet

Velvet is a very friendly 12 year old female cat.  We collected Velvet as a stray from a garden a month ago where she had been fed for several weeks. She had arrived hungry, with thin fur and generally in need of help.

We discovered that she was microchipped to an address just three doors away.  The phone number was no longer working so we visited the property and put a note through, with no response we visited again and became concerned about the state of the property which was rather run down, we spoke to neighbours who explained that an elderly lady and her daughter lived there but they had not seen the mother since the Summer and last saw the daughter 10 days previously.  After speaking to the neighbours everyone became rather concerned for the welfare of the cats owners, the police attended and eventually managed to speak to the mother and daughter and are involving social services and extended family.  The Police did discuss Velvet with her owners and they confirmed that she was missing and said they would call us but haven't done so.

Having tried for over a month to reunite her with her owners it is clear that they no longer want her or are able to care for her. Velvet is now looking for a new home and we will register her ownership to us and then to her new owners.

Velvet is very friendly with a sweet nature. She is good with other cats.

CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 SITUATION and cat adoptions.

The coronavirus pandemic does mean that we have had to alter our usual homing procedures. Pre-coronavirus we would meet potential adopters in their homes (home visit) this was an informal visit to provide advice about caring for cats or kittens e.g health care, feeding, settling in and also an opportunity for us to feel reassured that you could provide a good home.  We have replaced our usual home visit with a video call via What'sApp or similar to provide the same advice and so that you can also show us the cat relevant areas of your home e.g garden, location of a cat flap etc.

Following a successful home assessment we can make an appointment for you to come and meet our cats.

We are prioritising homes that are local to our centres.  Lewisham Branch  Homing catchment area: All SE London and BR (Bromley) postcodes. Also N.Kent (Welling, Bexley, Sidcup, Swanley, Dartford), Croydon and SW London (SW8, SW9, SW2, SW11, SW4, SW12, SW16) If you can offer a home to a 'harder to rehome' cat we will consider homes outside our usual rehoming areas.
