Jade
Jade was wandering the streets for a while before turning up in a garden belonging to someone who gave her some food. Attempts to find out where she belonged came to nothing and so she came into our care. At first we suspected that Jade might be pregnant and our vet couldn't say one way or the other for sure as it can be difficult to determine when a pregnancy is at a certain stage. What was evident was a slightly raised scar n the area where she would have been opened up to be spayed, so it did look like she may have already had that op, but it was a case of let's wait and see whether or not she's pregnant. Anyway, it turns out that Jade was just a bit constipated and when that was sorted out and a couple of weeks had passed our vet confirmed that Jade isn't pregnant. There having been no sign of kittens with her when she was wandering the streets it does look very much like that scar is the result of an earlier spaying operation. There's no doubt that she has been used to domestication so it now seems like Jade is yet another poor soul who became expedible when the notion of having a cat wore off. It's not exactly an unusual scenario, unfortunately. So, what can I tell you about Jade? Her foster mum describes her as being slightly cautious with people she doesn't know but that that soon passes, and that she's a sweet, gentle, girl who purrs constantly in her safe, warm and comfortable shelter. She had her first set of vaccinations on January 5th and will complete those at the end of the month, at which point she will also be microchipped. Jade will then be ready to find her new home, a home where she'll be loved and cared for with people who would never even consider abandoning her. She's already had that experience, and it really wasn't any fun at all. Although we can't say for certain, we don't rule out her being homed where there's already another cat as her next door neighbour in foster care did hiss at her through the transparent barrier in their play area (but just the once, there was no real animosity) and Jade didn't react at all. A quiet home would probably suit her best, and a garden or other safe area away from busy roads to explore once she's very well settled would be just wonderful.
