Padraig and Niamh
Padraig and Niamh were each found (separately) wandering outdoors on their own.   Padraig would have been about 5 months old at that stage and little Niamh only  4-5 weeks!  It wasn't a great start in life, baby Niamh nearly caused a road traffic accident by wandering out into the road.  All changed when kind members of the public found each of them and took them to the same vet.  The lovely vet surgery took them in, treated them for worms and fleas and spent time trying to fiind their owners to reunite them.  When no owners came forward they asked if 8 Lives could take them into rescue.

[UPDATE 27 September:  This gorgeous pair are now reserved for adoption]

We were a little concerned at first how an adolescent boy cat would cope with a very small kitten, and indeed how she would cope with him.  In the end we needn't have worried.  For the first couple of weeks they played nicely together and then went off to do their own thing. Then quite suddenly they moved from "being ok together" to clearly becoming good friends, nearly always to be found sleeping next to each other, cuddling and grooming each other.

Padraig is a very gentle, loving little boy who loves to snuggle and play.  Niamh is less of a snuggler and more keen to be chasing around and playing, she's quite a chatterbox too.  She has a purr twice her size though which she saves for when she's being stroked.

They've both been microchipped and had a full course of vaccinations.   Paddy has been neutered already.  Niamh is currently too little to be neutered.  It is part of the adoption agreement that she will need to be neutered as soon as she's old enough and will need to be kept safely indoors until she's recovered from her op.    They've obviously both had health checks at their vet appointments and no health issues found.

They'd be happiest in a home where there are people around quite a bit of the time and they can have lots of attention and cuddles.  Paddy particularly seems quite anxious about being left, maybe because of his early experience.   They've not had any experience of children whilst in rescue but we've no reason to believe that they wouldn't be fine with children who are able to treat them with appropriate respect.

Paddy will need to be kept securely indoors for at least a month, until he's settled.  Niamh MUST be kept securely indoors until she's been neutered and recovered from her op.    After that they will probably enjoy having access to a safe garden, well away from any busy roads. We strongly advise that all cats are kept indoors during hours of darkness.  It's safer  for them and for local wildlife.

All our adoptions bring 5 weeks free insurance through Agria.

We always homecheck prior to adoption, and ask a minimum donation of £90 for each cat.. There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html
