Avril and Meryll
Both Avril and Meryll came into our care in April 2023, along with a number of other young cats who had been living on a farm. The situation there was out of control and the cats really needed our help, all being very underweight and undernourished. Three of the cats were heavily pregnant and two, Avril and Melody, gave birth on the same night, May 9th. Right from the start little Meryll and Avril were really well bonded and we suspect Meryll may be Avril's daughter from an earlier pregnancy. I would estimate that Meryll would have been maybe four months old in April, making her around seven months old now. Also right from the moment she came into our care, Meryll has shown herself to be the sweetest wee girl. She had never been handled, received no care on the farm, and yet she decided to trust us. In fact, none of the cats from the farm are in the least bit aggressive despite never having had much reason to trust humans. Sometimes, even when Nurture has been on the down-low, good Nature wins out. Avril herself is only young, maybe between 1 and 2 years old, and now that her kittens are almost old enough to be homed she'll soon be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and be ready to go to that Forever home we seek for her and Meryll. Meryll has stuck by Avril's side, helping her with the kittens, never jealous of the attention they received from their devoted mother so to split them up is just unthinkable. Meryll, of course, has already been spayed, vaccinated and chipped. Avril and Meryll really need a home with experienced cat lovers as they will be confused and shy for a time until settled. Having been used to the outdoor life they would really love a home where they could have access to the outdoors when it's clear that they've become settled enough. A home with older children who would understand the initial shyness and give Avril and Meryll the time they would need to feel safe should be fine and a laid back dog used to cats should be okay. All potential homes are visited as we try very hard to make sure the 'fit' is a good one for both humans and felines!
