Toby and Sooty
Toby and Sooty are two 5 year old beauties who came into RSPCA care after likely being abandoned in their last home, as they were both signed over by a housing officer rather than an owner. They were also, unusually, signed over at different times – meaning they’ve spent the last three months or so separate until we recently reintroduced them both. We are pleased to report that this was a success! The pair immediately greeted each other with a very adorable nose bump, and are now re-learning the best way to share space again whilst they await their forever home together.

Both Toby and Sooty have been through a period of overindulgence, and so are both currently on strict diets in order to return to healthier weights. Sooty also has a scar on her back at the base of her tail, which is where she had a large cyst removed. The site has healed well, her fur is growing back nicely, and this causes her no issues at all.

Toby and Sooty would make fantastic companions for somebody seeking a pair of easygoing furry friends. They are understandably quite shy to begin with, choosing the comfort of a hiding spot whilst gathering their bearings, and then unbelievably sweet once they’re sure there’s nothing to be afraid of. Head bumps are both of these two’s greeting of choice, and they don’t give them by half, either! Accompanying the vigorous head bumps are usually some unique squeak-meows, as once they’ve gained confidence in the presence of a trusted human, these two really like to have a chat! Sooty in particular has very emotive eyes, and Toby enjoys cuddling with their fosterer in bed. These gentle characters really do seem to be twins, including showing their affection through both loud purrs and loving gazes.

It’s possible that they haven’t had toys to play with before, as they both seem quite puzzled by what they’re supposed to do with them (despite our best efforts to engage them), though this may change over time once they’re settled in a home. For this sweet-tempered and peaceful pair, we would love to find them a quiet home with a predictable routine. Due to their shy natures and the changes they’ve been through this year, we feel that this type of home environment would give Toby and Sooty the best chance at showing their full (and wonderful) personalities. Children in the household would need to be 11+, and the home would need to be dog-free. They would also both require a safe outdoor space to explore once they’re feeling brave enough.

If you think these sweeties could be the cats for you, please get in touch.
