Pearldust Firecracker (Fawkes) (GCCF)
Colour:           Brown
Pattern:          Spotted / Rosetted
Age:                2 Years 8 Months
Sex:                 Male
He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated

Medical conditions: None (No medical issues or recurring health problems)

Any known Behavioural Issues: Relationship with his half brother Rocket has deteriorated to the point where they are constantly fighting both indoors and when roaming outdoors. Both have scratches and cuts from this and numerous scabs. We thought they were fighting with other cats but after a neighbour said they had seen them fighting we kept an eye on them and they are constantly stalking and attacking each other.

Fawkes is generally a lovely cat, likes to snuggle up with you on the sofa and sleep on the bed if allowed, occasionally he gets over excited and his tail bangs and he might nip or scratch, but he always gives a warning as his ears go back and his tail bangs and a very firm no and stopping stroking or playing with him and walking away will prevent a scratch. Fawkes is not suitable for young children in our opinion, and is very nervous when he hears a dog barking.

Fawkes is an alpha male and has been fighting with his half brother on and off for months, but it has become much more violent recently, and all the usual calming sprays, drops and plug ins have no effect. He has no experience of children as we are both retired and always home, and is very nervous and jumpy when he hears dogs barking, So no idea if he would be ok with a dog but I doubt it.

He's currently based in Cumbria
Please contact: The Welfare Team ([email protected]) 07717 575198 if you are interested in Fawkes and we will give you the contact details.

The first step is to find a cat that you think could be right for you - It’s important you read the cat’s profile all the way through so you can be sure you’ll be able to support their needs. If everything looks promising, get in touch and arrange for you and your family to meet the cat. If possible, spend a few hours to getting to know them better.
Ask the owner as many questions as you can. Asking the owner lots of questions is great way to find the right pet and make sure you can give them everything they need, too. As soon as the cat is handed over to you, you become their legal owner. You can’t return them to their original home if you change your mind and The Bengal Cat Association isn’t a rescue service so we can’t take them into our care, either.
If you would like to chat to one of our team about a cat that interests you, but you need some advice before going ahead with the rehome please contact us ([email protected]) with your phone number and one of the team will ring you.
As such, you should only go through with the adoption if you’re 100% sure it’s right. If the owner agrees, you can ask to visit your potential new pet a couple of times before making a final decision or try video calling each other. Consider asking these questions before you visit the cat to help make sure you've covered the important considerations. Have I seen how the cat behaves around other cats (if applicable)? Have I double checked that the cat would suit my routine at home? Have I physically checked the cat over? Does s/he have any potential health issues that I need to ask about? Ask to see vet records. If I have children have, I seen how the cat interacts with children? Have my children met the cat? Do I have any doubts? If yes, DO NOT TAKE THE CAT HOME on this occasion and plan to visit again,
For most people, giving up a pet for adoption is heart-breaking. Please bear this in mind when you’re chatting to the owner.

Disclaimer:
Rehoming a rescue cat is a serious commitment please give your new cat a reasonable amount of time to settle to its new life. A cat can take 14 days, and sometimes several months to start to bonding with a new owner, sometimes it can be less time, other times longer.
Remember The Bengal Cat Association is a direct rehoming service, not a rescue organisation. We don’t have the facilities or the means to take cats into our care. So, ensure you as the re-homer ask many questions as you feel you need to before re-homing. However, we do offer a post-adoption support service so please contact us ([email protected]) immediately if you’re having any issues or you’ve got any questions and we will do our best to help.
