Kedi
Kedi arrived with us in August 2023, heavily pregnant and not very well, having lived on the street for some time.  She gave birth to five kittens a few days later.
She's been one of the most patient, loving mums we've ever had and has taken excellent care of her kittens.

When she arrived here she was breathing heavily and we thought initially it was just anxiety.  We quickly realised though she wasn't well and took her to the vets. She was diagnosed with a chest infection and asthma.  The infection was quickly cleared up with antibiotics but her asthma remains.  She's been using an inhaler daily and her breathing settled so that she was able to run around and play with her kittens.  Since she started having her daily steroid inhaler she's only had one day where her breathing has been poor.  There were several obvious stressors for this: heat, disruption in the house, kittens starting to leave their nest.  This was settled fairly quickly with her reliever inhaler.  Although giving a cat an inhaler was initially rather daunting she's accepted it quite well and accepts it as part of her daily routine.

She tends to keep herself to herself, maybe she doesn't expect much positive from humans after her sad days living out on the streets.  At first she was mainly focussed on the kittens, but as they've grown up and gone off to their new homes she's started to show more interest in the humans around her.  Once she settles into having a fuss she gives lots of purry head bumps and clearly enjoys interactions.

We're aware that her health issues are getting in the way of her being able to be adopted, though there's some hope that once she's settled she may be able to reduce her medication.  So we're looking for a long term foster home, hopefully with a view to adoption if her health issues settle down.  Eight Lives will cover her veterinary care whilst you provide her day to day care and lots of love.  She needs somewhere with minimum stress to give her the best chance of her health improving, so a quiet(ish) home with no other pets or young children. We think she'd really love the chance to have a potter around in a safe garden.  She's been used to being outdoors and now being inside in rescue is starting to stress her out.   She will need to continue receiving care at our vets in Millhouses, Sheffield S7 so you'll need to be able to be within easy travelling distance of them.

If you think you might be able to offer her the chance of a new life that she needs, please contact us at [email protected]
