Dear Pedro, his beloved owner passed way recently.  It was just the two of them and Pedro is, understandably, feeling totally bewildered and lost.  He and his owner were close, though Pedro isn't known to be particularly affectionate or sociable generally.  It seems that an understanding, experienced and very patient new owner will be Pedro's route to feeling relaxed and, in time, settled and happy again.  He must be feeling so very confused and so sad. Though he isn't really keen on being fussed, his contentment was obvious when he was with his owner, even if they weren't always in the same room at the time!  He needs to feel safe and, even if no or little close contact is always welcome especially to start with, know that he is loved and respected as he is.  He is likely to want to be sometimes left to his own devices, simply being Pedro, just as he is.  Time spent with him, but at a distance, just getting on with whatever, for varying times, can often help trust to develop as we know.  A quiet home, with no other pets, with an owner with a very big heart, who will be able to provide for his needs and give him the quiet and constant reassurance he needs, that really caring cat people just know instinctively, would be his dream.  If you have been involved in settling other cats in previously, similar in nature to Pedro, you will know the unbelievable joy and emotion felt, when a corner is turned, however small that corner is.
