Poppy
Hello, I'm Poppy, and I'm a Scottish Fold cat.
When I arrived at TAG, they quickly noticed that I was very painful on my back legs and I was permanently hunched. A visit to the human vet servant (which I was not impressed by) revealed that I had osteoarthritis and luxating patella grade 3 - my knee cap was popping out of place all the time and would only go back in if it was physically moved back into place.
With the help of all my supporters and the team at Briar House Vets I had surgery to correct the luxating patellas. This surgery was a great success! My walking has improved dramatically and I am feeling much happier now I'm not in pain all the time.
I do sadly have a condition called osteochondrodysplasia still. The gene that causes my folded ears causes abnormalities in all the cartilage and leads to painful arthritis. I already have signs of this so my new human servants must be able to commit to me financially for the long haul and cover the cost of any further treatment I require. It may be that I don't experience any problems for another 10 years, or I might have difficulties sooner.
I shouldn't need any further surgeries, but I will need monitoring and at some point may need a pain management regime to keep me comfortable. Whoever adopts me will either need to keep me registered at Briar House or have access to another good orthopedic vet to look after me.
I love sitting on laps and have a powerful purr like an engine! I love company but am not too demanding and enjoy my own space too. Someone working from home would be perfect so I can come and say hello whenever I want but also enjoy some quiet me time too.
I am fond of gentle play with mice, but I must not be encouraged to run around like crazy! I am perfect with my litter tray use. I have a very thick coat so even though I'm short haired I require regular grooming which I love!
I can live with children if aged 12 or older.
Do you want to look after me forever? If so, please fill out my adoption form here       https://tagpetrescue.org.uk/cat-adoption-application-form1
