Fish and Chip

Meet Fish & Chip! These 2 cuties are looking for a super special home…here is their story!

Back in May last year, 5 little kittens came to us that were only around 4 days old. They had been found by some children, being attacked by other adult cats, with no mom around. Being so young, they needed to be hand reared, so the 5 were split between 2 of our carers to foster. Sadly, one baby, Simba, passed away within the first couple of weeks, but the others have grown up and are now doing well!

These two are very lovely cats, and anyone who gets to take them on will be very lucky indeed! Having been handreared, they are quite crazy…in a good way!! They are very loving and affectionate. They just love people and want to cuddle all day long. They also have their naughty side too! They love sitting on your shoulder, will jump on your back at any opportunity, and will use you as a human scratch post! So be prepared!

Chip is very laid back, loves being picked up and cuddled, but is much more playful than his sister. He likes to steal things, and you will often find him carrying around some random object that he has ‘caught’. They are into everything and get everywhere that they shouldn’t…any open drawer or door, cupboard, fridge…they’ll be in it! Fish loves to sleep. Alot! She likes to be warm all the time and will often bury herself under blankets, in your clothes or will lie on the radiator! She is very much a mommy’s girl and wants to be with you all of the time. They are young and playful and very active so will need plenty of space as they will be indoor only. They have crazy zoomies, love to play fight and love their toys!

Fish and Chip have both been quite sickly kittens (more so Fish), and have been in and out of the vets through their time with me, hence why they are a little bit older now! There have been worrying times, and at one point we nearly lost Chip. He has since grown stronger, and not had any issues, but his sister Fish has been poorly on and off for longer. Lots of tests have been done, but nothing has yet been found as a cause. We think she possibly just had a very bad immune system whilst she was younger, but it has got better as she has got older.

Upon testing however, she was found to be positive for Feline Coronavirus. (This is in no way associated with the human virus!) Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) is very common, and over 40% of cats will be infected with this in their lifetimes. Most cat owners would never even know if their cat had this, as they often remain healthy and show no symptoms. It is spread through contact of infected faeces, and very common in multi cat households. As Chip has always been with Fish, it is likely he has it, or has had it at some point, so this is why they are to be rehomed to a strictly INDOOR home. Anyone interested in adopting Fish & Chip will need to do research on the virus, and the carer is of course happy to speak to you more about this too. They currently live with other cats and love the company. They could potentially live with other indoor cats, but again you would need to do your research into FCoV and see how you feel about this.

They have grown up with a dog in the house, and could live with a cat friendly dog/s. They could live with children, but please do bare in my mind that they DO climb up people and do scratch when doing so! They need to be kept as indoor cats, so will need plenty of space and things in place to stop them running outside. Homes with a Catio or fully cat proof fenced garden would be a bonus! They love company and cuddles, so would love it if there was someone who was not out too much. Due to the health issues they have had in their short time, they would need owners who have had cats before or are experienced with cats.

If you think you could offer these two a home, please fill out an adoption enquiry form. Be sure to read our adoption policies too. Only successful applicants will be replied too, so if you do not hear from us within 7 days, please take it you have been unsuccessful this time.
