Amelia
UPDATE!! I took Amelia to complete her vaccinations last week and to have her teeth cleaned as the vet had noticed some tartar on them when she was being checked over three weeks before. However, when Amelia was under anaesthetic to have the dental work done the vet found that many of her teeth had been worn down. Two were extracted and the rest cleared of tartar and polished. Given that some teeth had been worn down the vet now believes Amelia to be older than we first thought - possibly around 11 or 12. There could be other reasons why her teeth were worn down, of course, as it could be attributed to a very bad diet if Amelia was left to her own devices for a long period of time, eating only what she could catch or scavenge. The good news is Amelia is a healthy girl and is thoroughly enjoying her heated bed and accommodation as well as lots of human attention. Why she should actually trust and like humans after having been so neglected and abandoned (and I wonder how many times that happened), is the biggest mystery of all. She's a wee sweetheart, but doesn't seem to like other cats much so a home alone, this time with the sort of humans who actually deserve her, would be just perfect for her.

Lovely Amelia is yet another one of those cats whose owners 'forgot' to pack them up when they were moving house. She had lived with some people who had moved out of their private let, taking only what mattered to them and unfortunately for Amelia she didn't fit into that category. I'm told someone from a neighbouring street put food out for her but then that person too left the area and Amelia found herself alone yet again. I had a call about her the day after the call came in about Jade - different area, same town - and having had a couple of cats just homed was able to take her in right away. What a sweet girl Amelia is! Despite it all, she just loves the attention of we humans, so head bumps and kisses are very welcome at Chez Amelia (otherwise know as a comfy cat shelter). This is yet another girl we suspect to be already spayed but as she has some tartar on her teeth she's booked in to have that done at the end of January, at which point the vet will open her up to find out for certain whether she still needs to be spayed. Unfortunately, this is even harder on the body than the routine op as it requires some poking about. Amelia has already had her first set of vaccinations and those will be completed when she's having her teeth cleaned/her spaying op, at which point she'll also be microchipped. A home with older children should be just fine for Amelia but although she sometimes sees visiting dogs in our garden from the safety of her shelter, we can't be sure how well she would do with dogs. I suspect she would be okay, though, if the dog in question was laid back and used to cats. Did I mention that Amelia has asked specifically that she would love her new home to have access to outdoors so she can explore when she's all settled?
