As far as we know Harley has spent his life in captivity, another charity previously tried rehoming him as a feral cat but this went wrong and he went missing and ended up in trouble trying to survive in a car park for several weeks and had to be rescued again. At this point we were asked to help and take him in. We hoped he would become friendlier with people and to an extent he has become more relaxed but he still does not like people but does adore other cats.
We have considered how best to rehome him. We know that he must be rehomed with other cats, either adopted along with other young cats from the centre or rehomed to someone who already has young cats. We have considered rehoming him with young feral cats to an outdoor home but are very concerned that this did not work out for him before. We are currently thinking that a domestic home with other cats is most suitable, either a very spacious indoor only home or a home with eventual garden access but where he will need to be kept indoors for several months before he is allowed outdoors (a cat flap would be essential).
He will require a very rescue minded, patient adult home.
To enquire about Harley please email [email protected] Our Rescue Centre reception is also now open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 1p.m and 5p.m for potential adopters to drop in to meet us for an initial chat about adopting one or more of our cats. Our address is 233-235, Lewisham Way SE4 1UY
ADOPTION PROCESS:
Because our cats are rescued we do like to meet potential adopters this can either be at your home (home visit) or via a video call e.g WhatsApp this is an informal visit to provide advice about caring for cats or kittens e.g health care, feeding, settling in and also an opportunity for us to feel reassured that you could provide a good home.
Following a successful home assessment we can make an appointment for you to come and meet our cats.
We are prioritising homes that are local to our centres. Lewisham Branch Homing catchment area: All SE London and BR (Bromley) postcodes. Also N.Kent (Welling, Bexley, Sidcup, Swanley, Dartford), Croydon and SW London (SW8, SW9, SW2, SW11, SW4, SW12, SW16) If you can offer a home to a 'harder to rehome' cat we will consider homes outside our usual rehoming areas.
